about

With the Stolen Gods Project I wanted to shed light on the westernization of religious systems in the United States. The first track, "Stolen Gods", is. a homage to all the colonizers who pray to deities that they tomb raided and spilled blood to worship. The second song "You" is homage to the monogamous obsessions with being the one, or someones everything and how this deep desire, if not regulated and reflected upon, can create a suffocating isolation rooted in comparison, narcissism and inferiority. The final cut, "Jazztastic" is a tribute to all the jazz, blues, and hiphop musicians that came before me, period, (also Mick Jenkins has a song called Bruce Banner where he hells "fuck is wrong w. em?" and I liked that so big up to Mick).

With the “Stolen Gods” project I want to bring attention to the disenfranchisement and simultaneous fetishization of Kemet or what we now know as Black\Egypt. The artwork for the project displays Osiris as a Pharaoh with a False Beard, an Atef crown, and Bull horns. The Horns are a statement to both the bull god Apis and the constellation Taurus, Osiris’ sun sign. The nose has been blown off Osiris’ face so to mimic the De-Africanization of statues throughout Egypt.
